My family and I just got back from our Mexican adventure and stayed at the fabulous Grand Luxxe for 4 nights. It was EVERYTHING and I am extremely pleased with the service and the team. We were originally booked at Dreams Puerto Aventura but it didn’t work out and we stayed at the Grand Luxxe.
Check in: Smoothest check in of my entire life. The complimentary mimosas were much appreciated and welcomed. No room keys here! A waterproof wristband with your room access on it takes the place of the standard room keys. I love it! The kids loved it! Instead of having to carry around a key all the time! (Genius?!) YES!
Room: We had a master suite with a king size bed which had a living area when you walk in with a long couch, HUGE TV, armoire and a small kitchen area which included a sink, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. No cooking for us on this vacation 🙂 We did use the microwave to warm up coffee and we did use the fridge for the kids juices, water bottles and milk.
The bathroom was gorgeous! A swanky tub and walk in shower complete with rain shower head. There are no words or pictures that can ever do justice to the shower in this bathroom. The water was instantly hot, no waiting at all. Double sinks were a huge plus for us. Beds were comfortable. We had 2 balconies: one in the main living area with two lounge chairs and the other in the bedroom with 2 chairs. It was nice to sit out there and the boys loved the jungle views and seeing the cruise ships sail by.
Room service twice a day was wonderful. They always left amazing chocolates on our beds at turn down service. Our room always looked and smelled spectacular thanks to them.
Shuttle Transportation: ALL of the transportation drivers were wonderful. They were extremely quick, less than a 5 minute wait each time. If we wanted to walk to wherever it wasn’t an issue for us.
Pools: I loved the pool at the Grand Luxxe. We are a family of 4 and I felt the Grand Luxxe pool was perfect. I liked the crowd and it was more relaxed than the main pool. At the main pool, they have a DJ playing music and there are games and activities all day which I love, but the pool at the Grand Luxxe is simply more relaxing. There are swim up bars at the main pool.
We utilized a beach cabana on our last day. We also got one at the pool. Get one if you can. The sun in Mexico is a force to be reckoned with.
Jade Boutique: I could spend hours at Jade 🙂 This is a one stop shop for everything. They have groceries, a coffee bar, regular gift shop souvenirs, a jewelry counter, beach cover-ups. You name it, they have it. Their items are reasonably priced. They also sell the amazing room spray the room attendants use here!
Joya at Cirque du Soleil: Just do it. It’s such an amazing experience. We did the VIP experience and had dinner there too. One of the most delicious and theatrical dining experiences I’ve ever had. The kids loved every minute of it!
Restaurants: Azur has an amazing breakfast and dinner. We had breakfast in the restaurant three mornings. It was fantastic every time. The Pancakes and the French Toast Brulee with Red Berries and Salted Almonds = yes. A few nights a week we ventured to the themed dinner shows – it was delicious! At the Grand Luxxe pool, the frozen lime margaritas are fantastic. We had dinner at Azur, and the meal and was worth every bit of the splurge. If you can get in to Azur for dinner, I highly recommend it!
Ziggys – another great restaurant with beautiful beach views. Breathtaking! If you want a great meal and a boho chic vibe, this is your spot.
The Burger Custom Made – we ordered several things here and shared and it was so divine. There was relaxing music and it was an easy, laid-back Easter lunch date while the kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt 🙂
Spatium: This is the resort’s spa at the Grand Luxxe but can be used by anyone staying at Vidanta. We had a couple’s deep tissue massage and it was amazing!! So relaxing, we wanted a longer one. Reasonable price as well. Get there early to enjoy their sauna, thermal lounge area and hydrotherapy pools!
Tulum: One of the most magical moments of the trip was visiting the absolutely awesome Tulum. Tulum is one of the last cities inhabited and built by the Maya. Visit the Mayan ruins. It’s a dreamy city located in the south of the Riviera Maya where the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea meet clear skies. It’s a unique mix of simplicity, nature and fashion all together. Such a unique, interesting and breath-taking place. We rented a car and spent a day there.
